Recruitment Process
Welcome to the University of Kansas! Here at KU, we are proud to be home to one of the most prestigious sorority and fraternity communities in the country. The Interfraternity Council fraternities have promoted brotherhood, friendship, service, and academics for over 130 years.
To become a member of a fraternity, you must go through the process of recruitment. Individual chapter recruitment is supported by IFC-sponsored opportunities.
At KU, each chapter has its own unique core values and recruitment style that gives prospective members the chance to explore which fraternity aligns best with their personal goals and values. Individual chapters host open and private events to connect with prospective members. Prospective members who go to those events should use that time as an opportunity to get to know the chapter members and their values better. Prospective members should reach out to the chapters they are interested in. For example, looking at chapter social media pages and reaching out to the recruitment chairs who are posted.
IFC supports the chapter recruitment process by hosting IFC-sponsored events that give prospective members an opportunity to interact with multiple chapters. IFC additionally supports recruitment processes by utilizing an interest list. Prospective members can fill out the interest form on the IFC website to get connected to chapters. Chapters are then sent the list of prospective members and have the opportunity to reach out to them. If a prospective member is interested in specific chapters, we encourage them to reach out to those chapters directly.
We encourage you to participate to the fullest in order to access all opportunities. Don't be afraid to continue to visit other chapters even when you are faced with invitations from multiple. Visiting as many as possible is the key to the best fit.
